Hello Everyone

The photos below are from our trip from Bajo to Makassar (370 nm) and our time spent there. We arrived in Makassar on the 7 June and have been here for 4 weeks. It is one of the dirtiest anchorages we have been in which means we cannot use our watermaker. So every 7 days we sailed out to one of the islands (8 nm) to make water and scrub the hull. We renewed our visa for another 60 Days and as there is an Australian Consulate here we renewed our Passports as we  would have had only 7 months left on our passports when we enter Malaysia. When we leave Makassar we will head to Kalimantan (Borneo). We intend to head up the Kumai River to Kumai City where they do the Orangutan Tours (700 nm).

This photo is the Pizza Restaurant in Bajo. It was a great pizza  which we enjoyed with cold beers with fellow cruisers Bubba and Loretta from SV Bosun Mate.

The next photos are from Pulau Bonerate where they build the Pinisis. But sadly some will never be completed due to lack of money from owners. Very friendly locals.

The next photos are from Pulau Tanajampea. Not many yachts come here so when we had a meal we had a audience of children who followed us everywhere right down to the dock to say goodbye.

The next photos are from Bira. We have anchored here before on our way to Lombok. One of the Pinisi has been launched since then.

The next photos are from Makassar. Very modern city with shopping Malls, western food and groceries. Good quality Beef at last. Nice change from chicken and fish. We had party boats every night with fireworks.

The next photos are from Rammang-Rammang. To get there we hired a car and driver for the day and then travelled by boat which is the only way to  access this area. This limestone area is a amazing place with lakes, rivers, paddy fields, caves and forested mountains.

Everyone wants a photo

The next photos are from Leang-Leang which we visited on our way back to Makassar from Rammang-Rammang. This area is where the oldest hand stencil in the world is found and possibly the oldest figurative depiction in cave art was found

The next photos are of the Mosque of 99 Domes. Why 99 domes and not 100. Well apparently Allah had 99 names.

You just see our boat anchored in the distance. This was taken from the Mosque.

Yep, another photo with local.

The next photos are the water front area. Makassar is the Centre of Indonesia which is what the structures depict.

Costumes represent different areas of Indonesia and yes they wanted a photo with Cheryl.

Nobody wanted a photo with me

This was our dinghy dock. Its where tourists can hire Duck Boats  to cruise the waterway. This area had a constant sewage smell.

Our Tuk Tuk driver Hendra. Helped us with shopping and fuel. We paid him well and is now probably retired.

The local Island where we anchored to make water and clean the hull.
